KRA to honour taxpayers during Taxpayers' Day

KRA will today, Wednesday 31st October, 2018 host the Annual Taxpayers' Day and Luncheon at The Kenya International Convention Centre, Nairobi. The event is organised every year to honour distinguished taxpayers. This year's winners will be recognized for exemplary tax compliance in the year 2017.

The ceremony will be officiated by His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta, Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury Mr Henry Rotich, KRA Board Chairman Amb. (Dr) Francis Muthaura, KRA Commissioner General among other guests from both the private and public sector.

The highlight of the event will be the launch of the KRA Integrated Scanner Command and Control Centre which is a web based integrated solution that assimilates all KRA scanners with an aim of monitoring their operations. The launch of the Centre is an important milestone that will help improve Customs detection capacity and help secure the borders.

The Centre will increase efficiency and create synergy in image analysis, leading to increased effectiveness of non-intrusive inspection of cargo which will boost trade facilitation.

The Luncheon will be a culmination of the Taxpayers' Month which kicked off on 1st October, 2018. KRA has over the years dedicated one month to its taxpayers by carrying out activities geared towards honouring and appreciating taxpayers for their invaluable contribution towards revenue collection.

The activities held under the banner of Taxpayers' Month also act as a platform to encourage citizens to pay taxes for the country's economic development. The activities also include; Customer Service Week, taxpayer appreciation visits, taxpayer education and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
