KRA?s Ushuru FC consolidated their position at the summit of the National Super League standings with a 2-0 triumph over Talanta at Camp Toyoyo in Nairobi.
The team picked from where they left after beating their bitter rivals KCB 4-1 in their last game.
Fan Ngaira scored the first goal in the 33rd minute to help the team take a 1-0 scoreline at half time. The second arrived 39 minutes later when on form Benson Amianda plundered home another goal from the spot in the second half to help Ushuru FC seal the top spot.
The team, which is under Marketing and Communication?s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, is now seating on the top on of the table with 72 points after winning 10 matches consistently.
Kenya Commercial Bank(KCB) are second in the table with 70 points. With only 4 matches remaining to the end of the season, the team will have to battle and clinch the two automatic tickets to the Kenya Premier League. But KCB kept the pace with the leaders after edging out Administration Police 3-1 in an earlier encounter played at the same venue. The bankers were trailing in the fourth minute when Humphrey Alemba found the back of the net. Leonard Saleh?s charges replied through Kevin Migele who scored a brace in the 26th and 29th minutes respectively.
Assistant Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility, Mr. Kennedy Ngure lauded Ushuru FC, saying that he is optimistic the team will join the top-tier in the next season. He noted that KRA has engaged a sport marketing agency to assist in Ushuru FC management. ?The team has really worked hard and I believe that they are going to bounce back to the Kenya Premier League. Next season, Ushuru FC will be the team to watch and we call upon staff to join in supporting the team?, said Mr Ngure. The sport marketing agency will give credible return on investment and enhance the team?s fan base.
